The flood incident which has been witnessed in some states across Nigeria, left residents of some Delta communities, swimming to their houses.

The flood reportedly rendered 5,000 people homeless, and also destroyed hectares of farmlands and properties worth millions of Naira.  Affected Delta Communities include: Akemu and Asarueha camps, Odabor all in Ikpide-Irri riverine community; Uzere, Ivrogbo-Irri, Araya, Emede, Umeh, among other communities in Isoko South local government area.

Residents of the communities who have passionately appealed to corporate bodies, spirited individuals and all relevant authorities to send relief materials to them, were spotted in photos gaining access to their homes either by swimming or by boat.

On the other hand, an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Emede and Ozoro, Isoko South and Isoko North local government areas of the state, have been opened by the State Government to cater for displaced persons.

This is coming after we reported that a heavy rainfall, which resulted into flood in Asaba and its environs swept six tricycles into the River Niger. According to Daily Posts, the flood also sacked residents of Ifant Jesus, Phase 11, and DLA road in Asaba.

Although, no death was reported, it was learnt that the entire Ifant Jesus, Phase 11, and DLA residents were thrown into disarray as their houses and properties were taken over by the flood.
