Lagos Assembly seek Removal Of Oriade Council Sole Administrator

Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have called on the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for immediate removal of the Sole Administrator of Oriade Local Council Development Area, Mr.
Habeeb Aileru.

Hon. Bisi Yusuf, the Chairman Public Account Committee representing Alimosho Constituency I  stated that the Sole Administrator has engaged in variety of unethical practices ranging from misappropriation of funds, failure to perform his duties and flagrant disregard to the rule of law.

According to Hon. Yusuff, Mr. Aileru has single highhandedly performed the role of the Council Treasurer and Council Manager. He added that he has incurred more debt rather that offloading it. While the debt of
the L.C.D.A was stipulated at N285 million as at Y2015, Mr. Oriade has increased the debt to the tune of N408 million in Y2017.

Hon.  Rotimi Olowo, the Chairman House Committee on Budget and Economic Planning reiterated that the Auditor-General in his statement at the Committee meeting indicted the Mr. Aileru which has further affirmed the misappropriation of funds allegation.

However, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa emphasized the need for the immediate removal of Mr. Akeem Aileru with the Auditor-General’s indictments. He said there is need that Mr. Aileru should be suspended  to serve as a deterrent to other political office holder.

He further stated that he would not have to take the decision inisolation and call on the Chairman of the Committee on Local Government to speed up on the mid-year scrutiny of the Local Government Administration and Community Affairs and come up with the
total report.
