The National Association of Women Journalist, Lagos State Council has commended the Lagos state government for its quick response at checkmating the menace committed by students from two secondary schools in Ikoyi.
The students were on rampage after concluding their exams, assaulting and attempting to rape fellow students on the streets in broad daylight. Aside arresting some of the perpetrators, the state government had called for investigation into the matter shortly after the incidence hit the news wave.
Congress also called for the quick intervention from the Lagos state government in addressing the issue of serial rape in Ikorodu axis of the state. It has been reported that many women and young girls are relocating from the area for fear of the assailants who not only rape their victims but also murder them.
In addition, the members of the Union also called on the presidency to formally relate the true state of health of the president, so as to curb devastating rumours concerning the president.
While joining all those who are worried about the health of the president, NAWOJ prays for the quick recovery of the president so that he may continue to pursue his plans for the country, especially curbing corruption and uplifting the economy for the betterment of Nigerians.
