Osun Governor, Rauf Aregbesola Sunday described the passing of the first civilian governor of the state, Isiaka Adeleke as devastating.In one of series of tweets, between 3.33pm and 3.55pm, by which he expressed his feelings regarding the demise of the Senator representing Osun West senatorial district of the state, Aregbesola said the news came to him with intense sorrow.
“I received with a deep sense of grief the news of the death of my brother and friend, Senator Isiaka Adeleke”, Aregbesola tweeted.
Governor Aregbesola is currently in China under the auspices of the Nigerian Governor’s Forum attending the first Nigeria-China Governors’ Investment Forum.
In another tweet, the Osun governor described Senator Adeleke as an elder brother who will be greatly missed.
In the tweet, Aregbesola deployed the Yoruba elegy to express how he would personally miss Adeleke as a brother.
“Iku mu eni ire lo. Odabo egbon mi,odi arin na ko,odi oju ala”, he tweeted.
The elegy translates as: “-death has taken away a good man. Goodbye my elder brother. I could only see you again in dreams-“.
Meanwhile, the remains of Senator Adeleke is reported to have been returned to his residence in Ede from a private hospital where he was earlier taken before he was pronounced to have passed on.
