Ambode’s wife partners ministry to empower 3,000 Lagos women

Wife of the Lagos State governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode has partnered with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to empower over 3,000 women across the state.
The women, which included the vulnerable, widows, senior citizens and other graduates of the skills acquisition programme organised by the state, were empowered in hair dressing, barbing, tailoring, food grinding amongst others.
Speaking at the ceremony for the distribution of the various tools to the beneficiaries, Mrs Ambode said the empowerment and support programme to different segments of women, deepens the relationship between the current adminstration and women in the state.
She noted that at inception of the administration the governor had promised to ensure women are not behind in the scheme of things.
“In the last one and a half years, several women-empowerment programmes have taken place, the current one presents yet another effort by the government, to put smiles on the faces of women in Lagos State.
“The motive is to help women take their rightful social positions, thereby making then permanently relevant.”
She noted that with the establishment of skills acquisition centres across the state, vulnerable women, widows and others, could acquire any vocational skills of their choice, which would enable them to be able to address their pressing need challenges.
The First Lady stressed that she would continue to support the women to guarantee their livelihood.
She further charged the graduands and beneficiaries of the programme to make judicious use of their newly acquired skills and empowerment to improve their lives.
Hence. The deputy governor idiat adebule who represent the governor of Lagos state stress the need women of alleviating poverty in the state where they can be dependent and relevant in the society.
She state that lagos state government is committed in putting various lofty policies and programmes aiming at raising the standard of living of its citizenry inspite the unsurmounted challenges.
Speaking at the programme also the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon Lola Akande disclosed that 3000 women will be empowered across the state  ‎which will be done quarterly,it is involves the 5 division of the state IBILE catering for the widows,vulnerable citizen,and graduate of the skill acquisition centres.
