Newly founded Osun United Football Club of Osogbo will on Sunday play a friendly match with Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan, the club management said on Friday.
The club’s Media Manager, Tunde Shamsudeen, said in a press statement in Osogbo that the match would help in the club’s preparations for the 2016/2017 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The league is scheduled to kick off in March.
“Osun United will play an away friendly match against Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Shooting Stars Sports Club in Ibadan on Sunday. Already, Shooting Stars’ NPFL Week 8 fixture against Rangers International FC of Enugu has been shifted as the team will be in Algeria.
“They are playing in the CAF Champions League first round against JS Saoura FC. Therefore, the Shooting Stars will be welcoming Osun United to the Lekan Salami Stadium at Adamasingba in a friendly encounter to keep the players sharp and in preparation for their upcoming NPFL fixtures too,’’ the statement disclosed.
Shamsudeen said the management of Shooting Stars would equally officially launch the club’s new home and away jerseys prior to its going on sale for their teeming fans worldwide.
He said there were no gate fees for the match, which was also in appreciation of the home support the Shooting Stars had been enjoying this season.
