The Coordinator of the Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly Talent Hunt, Mr. Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, has said that the process will be held in all the 17 local government areas making up the state.
Speaking with newsmen in Enugu on Friday, Okorokwo stated that the talent hunt was meant to go across all the local government areas as it is for the grassroots and that even the remote areas of the state would benefit from it.
“We have successfully conducted the ongoing talent hunt in centres at the Nike Grammar School in Enugu East as well as sensitisation at the Community High School, Emene. The exercise have been conducted in Government Technical College in Enugu North and College of Immaculate Conception in Enugu South.
“We also conducted the exercise at Community Urban Secondary School, Awgu, and Community Secondary School, Obollo Afor in Udenu,” he said.
According to him, the coordinating team will continue the exercise in other centres in February and will cover all the councils.
Meanwhile, the Principal of Urban Secondary School, Mr Emeka Ikpenwa, has described the exercise as awesome.
“I am happy that you people really came because we had being conversant with other sports except boxing. It is good to catch those young talents so that their youthful exuberance will not be wasted and I wish the exercise will continue because consistency matters a lot,’’ he said.
Ikpenwa hailed the Speaker, Edward Ubosi, and his team for the wonderful project, and urged other school principals to embrace the exercise.
One of the participants, Gabriel Nwankwo, expressed joy for being part of the exercise, and recounts the benefit of the boxing project to the students.
“I believed that my school will produce talents in the years ahead.
