I’ve not joined MMM to raise money to return loot to EFCC, says Obanikoro

A former Minister of State for Defense, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has denied rumours making the rounds suggesting that he has investment interest in MMM.
Rumour mill has been agog suggesting that he has entered the controversial scheme in other to enable him raise money to return looted funds to the anti graft agency, the Economic Financial and other Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a statement signed on Thursday by his media aide, Mr. Jonathan Eze, he described as preposterous and laughable the claim that he has invested in the scheme, which he feigned ignorance of.
The statement reads in parts:”Over the past few days, we have been reading different, fabricated and distorted imaginative stories about our Principal, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro. The recent was his alleged investment in a ponzi scheme called MMM.
“Obanikoro does not even know or understand what the scheme is all about until it was explained to him hence it is unthinkable to associate him with such business investment.
“We urge our media colleagues to verify and confirm their stories before publication in other to fulfil the objectivity function of news gathering. Sensationalising a story by bringing in names of eminent personalities just to claim a byline or for whatsoever reasons is immoral and will not be condoned.
“Stop playing to the gallery or try to give a dog a bad name in other to hung it. Have ample evidences before you publish a story and be fair to all.”
