Abia Media War Between Theodore Orji, Kalu, Ukasanya, Others Gets Messy As Orji Accuses Them Of Idleness, Bitterness And Envy

By Maxwell Adeyemi Adeleye
The media war between the immediate past governor of Abia state Senator Theodore Orji and his predecessor, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu including others like Chief Tony Ukansanya, Prince Benjamin Apugo and Chief Uche Akwukwaegbu may not be over soon as word missiles are flying against each other.

The former Governor Orji has described the series of attacks on him by handful of politicians in the state in recent time as a product of idleness, bitterness, resentfulness and envy and urged them to look for better things to do for the people.

The Senator representing Abia Central was responding to statements
credited to his predecessor, Dr Kalu, former Abia State Peoples’ Democratic Party [PDP], Chairman, Chief Tony Ukasanya and All Progressives Congress [APC], chieftain, Chief Benjamin Apugo who
accused him of underperformance as well as mastermind of their political miseries and fraud related cases with Economic, Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC.
Orji’s reaction was contained in a statement by his Media Adviser, Don Norman Obinna in Umuahia on Monday, saying that the media attacks on him were the offshoot of the meeting Sen. Orji’s predecessor, Kalu organized at the resident of Chief Akwukwaegbu to engender chaos in the state.
The former governor noted that the meeting was a result of frustration since their efforts to truncate the progress made by the present Abia State government through judiciary have failed to yield meaningful result.
The statement reads, “Their frustration is because of Sen. Orji’s fast rising political profile, it is expected that any politician or individual who wants to revive his dead political career or wants to be heard must heap whatever misery he faces on him just to get attention of the media and probably the sympathy of the people”.
“When last have you heard, read or seen Ukasanya speak on radio, newspaper or television? Except politics what else is his means of livelihood? At his age, he should be a statesman by now, but this is not the case”.
“Over the years he has positioned himself to feed from government so when he felt that he has lost his voice, he must do or say anything to be recognized. Abians know the uncharitable things he said against Kalu when they fell apart”.
“We know how he wept in Sen. Orjis’s office before he was appointed adviser, ask him if he made one memo to Sen. Orji in the 29 months he claimed he worked with his government”.
“Apart from the one million naira Abia State government paid him every month, he was also given a contract which he could not execute as well as a jeep. Since he never supported Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to be governor, the only option left for him is to run back to Kalu to beg for forgiveness in other to see what to eat”.
On Apugo, “Sen. Orji said, “It is laughable that Apugo would make such outlandish comment when it is a public knowledge that Apugo is enmeshed in several court cases bothering on lands and fraud related matters in different courts in Nigeria”.
“How can Sen. Orji plot an arrest of Apugo by the EFCC when in actuality they acted on order of court in a petition written on March 24, 2014 from Falana & Falana Chambers to the Chairman of EFCC?”.
“Falana & Falana petition to the EFCC on behalf of their client Obioma Isiuwa accused Apugo of defrauding him the sum of N36, 000, 000.00 (Thirty Six Million Naira), through the sale of six plots of land measuring 24.364 hectares belonging the government and acquired for the Federal Government Railway project”.
“Apugo should stop the deceit and prove his innocent before the court and stop seeking for sympathy using Sen. Orji’s name.”
On his predecessor, Kalu’s constant attack on him and claim of under-performance, Sen. Orji’s media adviser said, “Kalu is reacting out of frustration as a result of his rejection by the people who have on three occasions denied him his dream of becoming a senator”.
“All conspicuous projects and infrastructures in Abia State today are the products of Sen. Orji’s visionary leadership. Kalu should tell us that which is ascribable to him let the world compare and contrast to ascertain who among them the best Abia State governor was”.
