With less than 24-hours to the much touted governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, the aspirants are in cut throat manoeuvring and intrigue to win the ticket.
The primaries are scheduled to hold on Saturday at DOME International event centre, Akure, the state capital.
In all, the leading aspirants are a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN); the senator representing Ondo North in National Assembly, Ajayi Boroffice, Business Man, Mr. Segun Abraham.
Also jostling for the ticket of the party is a former National Legal Adviser of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olusola Oke, former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Victor Olabimtan, Proprietor of Achievers University, Owo and House of Representative Member, Mr. Bode Ayorinde, Senator Ayo Akintelure and Chief Bukola Adetula.
Others are Mr. Boye Oyewumi, Moyosola Niran-Oladunni, Niran-Sule Adesuyi, Jumoke Ajasin, Foluso Adefemi, Dele Alade and Senator Tayo Alasoadura, who currently represents Ondo Central Senatorial District at the Senate.
Information gathered by BLACKFACE team in Akure indicated that the aspirants are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that they come out victorious in the race that many observers believe will be a tight race.
Some of the tactics being employed by the aspirants include working on the 3,000 plus delegates who have been pencilled down to elect the party’s flagbearer.
In this, many of the leading candidates have been trying to ensure that they muster enough support as much as possible to edge out one another and in the process they have employed all means either legitimate or otherwise.
Sources confided in Blackface Media that virtually all the 3,000 delegates have been camped at various hotels within and outside the state capital, duly paid for by the leading aspirants.
Blackface Media also gathered that the city of Akure is currently agog as thousands of sympathisers of various candidates are trooping into the state to mobilize and in solidarity with their supporters.
Tension has enveloped the state as no one knows where the pendulum would swing to after the primaries have been concluded as the race from all indications seems very tight.
The candidate reportedly endorsed by the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr. Olusegun Abraham, sources said has camped delegates numbering about 500 at some undisclosed hotels at the Ijapo area of Akure the state capital.
Another leading candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, is said to have mustered close to 700 delegates in his camp as at the time of filling this report. Akeredolu was said to have camped his delegates in hotels at Igabaraoke, Owo and Akure areas of the state.
On his part, Senator Ajayi Borofice, sources confirmed to Blackface Media has camped delegates loyal to him at hotels in Obaile, Akure and Ijare in Ondo State while some party gladiators loyal to Senator Tayo Alasoadura are camped at his palatial residence in Akure and Iju-Itaogbolu, his country home.
Another aspirant currently springing surprise is Olusola Oke. The former PDP National Legal Adviser according to sources has close to 300 delegates in his camp located along Ondo road, Akure. The delegates in Oke’s camp sources said are mainly from Ilaje, Okitipupa and Eseodo local government areas in Ondo Southern Senatorial district.
Othe Aspirants with delegates in their camps are former state assembly speaker, Victor Adekanye Olabimtan, Bode Ayorinde and Business Man, Boye Oyewumi.
