Police raids criminal hideouts in Niger, arrest over 1000 suspects

Niger State Police Command has raided 531 criminal hideouts just as its personnel have also arrested 1,993 persons in the last nine months. 

Former Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, AIG Abubakar Marafa disclosed this while handing over to the new state Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu. 

Marafa said that properties worth N64.5 million were recovered from criminals adding that 1,934 persons were arrested for their involvement in various crimes in the state during the period. 

He stated that they have been able to fight crime and criminality through community based policing pointing out that the crime wave in the state have been reduced to its barest minimum because of this approach.

The new Niger State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu appreciated the crime fighting strategy of his predecessor which made the state one of the least crime free state stating that he will adopt the same strategy in combating crime in the state.

“I am not coming to this state to sleep. I am coming here to fight crime and reduce it to its barest minimum.

“Criminals will have no hiding place in Niger state. If there is any remaining, I tell them to find their way out of the state because crime fighting will continue in a more fierce way.”

Muazu then asked for the cooperation of the officers and people in the state to enable the police achieve its fight against crime.
