Top artistes are set to thrill Nigerians and foreign visitors at the
5th edition of the Nigerian Teens Choice Awards billed to take place
in Abuja in August.Speaking at a briefing in Abuja at the weekend, the Founder and CEO of
the NigerianÂ Teens Choice Awards Mr. Nelson Esewilliam said the 2016
edition is likely to have about 60 categories of nominations.
The previous year’s event, he said, had top artistes performing for
the over 3000 strong participants from different countries.
The event which has corporate sponsors, will feature awards and
recognition in various categories in the celebration of five years of
excellence and achievements, Esewilliam said.
TheÂ former youthÂ radio presenter said the event is an avenue to
showcase young Nigerians and recognize the talents of outstanding
youths in the country.
“This is a positive Avenue to showcase them and their achievement as a
source of encouragement to stimulate them to do more so that their
parents, Nigerians and the world at large can appreciate them.
“The audience target is 13 to 24 years old and there would be
opportunity for the participants to bond and discuss business
opportunities amongst themselves, ‘he said.
According to him, the event is the first teens award in Africa, and
that “the major artistes that graced previous editions include Burna
Boy, Davido, Seyi Shay and Praiz.
” This year, our line-up by God’s grace, will include Olamide, WizKid,
YCEE, Kiss Daniel, Praiz, Vector and when it comes to hosting, we will
have Denrele, ” he said.
While elaborating on the categories, he said there would be 7 major
aspects which includes music, fashion, media entertainment, arts,
social achievement, personality of the year and sports.
The aspects will be further broken into 60 categories with nominations
done in a transparent manner, he said, adding that the event will be
preceded with an “invasion tour”Â of Lagos State.
