Tension as Lagos PDP rival factions jostle for party

By Olaolu Oladipo, Lagos

There exists palpable tension as rival factions of the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have begun to jostle for the soul of the party in the state. The two factions are led by a prominent businessman, Mr. Segun Adewale popularly known as Aeroland and a former member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Moshood Salvador.

While Adewale has in a statement issued on Thursday accused Salvador of intimidating party members, the group loyal to the former lawmaker is maintaining that nothing of such exists.

Rather, they (Salvador’s members) blamed members of the other camp for being the aggressor.
The statement by Adewale obtained by BLACKFACE on Thursday reads in part, “It has come to our knowledge that some members of the party loyal to Mr. Moshood Salvador have been going about all the local government areas molesting innocent members who may not have identified with them.

“It is pertinent to note that no one has monopoly of violence and the intention to go about issues peacefully should not be misconstrued for weakness by other quarters.”

Sounding conciliatory, Adewale added, “We’re members of the same party and should care and love for one another rather than dissipating energies that should be reserved and better utilized against the
infamous APC government and their inhuman policies.”

Reacting to the charge, a member of the Salvador faction who spoke to our correspondent via phone accused the Adewale led group as being the aggressor.

The member who refused to be identified said, “Don’t mind them, they are the people attacking our people. We have been telling our members not to retaliate what they have been doing to us.”
