I will defeat PDP as APC governorship candidate, says Oke

A governorship aspirant in the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Olusola Oke, has expressed confidence that his emergence as the party’s flagbearer of the party will shatter the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Oke, who said the rising number of APC aspirants for the election was an indication of the size of the party, added that “Among the aspirants, I am the only one whose emergence as candidate will make the PDP crumble”.

The APC governorship hopeful spoke on Wednesday during his tour of Ose Local Government Area of the state where scores of PDP leaders in the area defected to APC.

They were received into the party by the APC Chairman in Ose Council area, Pa Makanjuola Oredola, who charged them to be loyal and use their wealth of experience to win more support for the party for the governorship election.

Oke, who said he towered above other aspirants in experience and competence, harped on the need for the party to choose a candidate with the capability to win election, adding that he had what was necessary to defeat the ruling PDP in the state and give Ondo State people the much desired meaningful life and development.

He told the delegates that “Your votes should be for the aspirant whose emergence would get the people’s support; the aspirant that enjoys unrivaled love of the people; and the aspirant who is known and loved by the whole of Ondo State.

“Among the aspirants, I am the one that qualifies. I am the aspirant that can defeat the PDP. Across the length and breadth of Ondo State, everybody loves me. They know my antecedents”.

The former PDP National Legal Adviser who described APC as the hope of Ondo State to have a feel of the “change” at the federal level, assured that with his emergence as candidate and consequent election as governor in November, Ondo State would enjoy a new lease of life.

He said: “I will administer Ondo State very well. My priority will be to revive all those moribund industries in the state,” which he said would provide job opportunities and boost the economy of the state and its people just as women and youth empowerment would take front burner.

He lamented that the present PDP administration in the state which inherited N38 billion from its predecessor had plunged the state into N108 billion debt in addition to rubbishing the legacies of former governors Adekunle Ajasin, Adebayo Adefarati and Olusegun Agagu. Today, there is pervasive poverty in the state”.
