Ekiti 2018: Guber Aspirant Hosts Young Entrepreneurs, Promise to Make State Independent Economically

A Governorship Aspirant on the platform of the Advanced Progressives Democratic Alliance (APDA) in Ekiti State, Mr. Tope Adebayo has promised to turn around the economy of the state if elected as governor.

Governorship election holds in the state July 14th 2018.

Speaking over the weekend during a round-table dialogue with some Entrepreneurs in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, the legal practitioner by profession said his government will create jobs and wealth by reforming the civil service and empower the Small Scale Medium Enterprise (SMEs).

At the no-hold barred session with the gubernatorial aspirant were entrepreneurs who cut across various field such as Agriculture, Fashion and Beauty Therapy, Event and Catering Management, Interior Decoration, Photography, Website Design and Programming, Shoe Making, etc.

In his response to numerous questions posed to him on his economic blueprint, wealth creation, youth empowerment through entrepreneurship and human-capital development, Adebayo said his government will invest handsomely on skills acquisition and capacity building if he gets the mandate of Ekiti people.

He noted that if sanctimoniously pursued; standard training of artisans and entrepreneurs in Ekiti will not only create wealth but increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.

He blamed the high level of poverty and under-development in the state and Nigeria in general on lack of quality leadership, stressing that Ekiti people will remain stagnant economically if the state continue to rely solely on the monthly allocation from federation account.

Emphasizing on the role of entrepreneurs as wealth and job creators, Adebayo said if he become governor, his government will work with young creative entrepreneurs with the intention of maximizing the potentials in agriculture and its value chain, fashion industry, social entrepreneurship etc to create wealth and jobs in the state.

“Government go as far as going to Republic of Benin to hire civil engineers to build houses us in Ekiti State, this is wrong, that is why there’s capital flight and lack of flow of money in our state. if i emerge the governor of the state, i will give premium to training of artisans, making them internationally competitive,  creating a hub for them where people can find them and engage them in productive engagement that will bring money into the state.” he said..

He commended the young entrepreneurs for having the courage to be self employed rather than looking around for white-collar employment that are now scared commodity.
