Jubilation as Buhari appoints Oyinlola as chair of identity commission

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State erupted in wild jubilation as President Muhammadu Buhari announced the appointment of a former governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola as the chairman of the board of the National Identity Management Commission.

Sources close to the former governor stated that the move is a preemptive move to starve off moves by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to poach him with the intention of drafting him to become the next national chairman of the party.

Oyinlola has been rumoured to be on his way back to the PDP, the platform upon which he was elected the governor of Osun State.

He has been reported to have visited chieftains of the party in the state preparatory to his eventual defection, which sources within the PDP told our correspondent that “it is just a matter of time.”

Efforts to get the position of the former army general in recent times have not been successful but the appointment has added a new twist to the suggestion of his impending move.

A press statement from the Presidency however stated that his appointment was with immediate effect.

His appointment has stirred jubilation among his teeming supporters across the state as many APC faithful await further appointment among the Osun based politicians in no distant time.
