Tension in Abia as IPOB mobilise to protect their leader from military cordon

Some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have mobilized themselves to form a protective ring around the residence of their leader, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.

The move follows the decision of the Nigerian Army top hierarchy to cordon off Kanu’s residence in Umuahia, the Abia State capital on Tuesday.

Only on Sunday, a clash ensued between the army and IPOB members when some soldiers tried to station an armoured personnel carrier in front of Kanu’s residence.

The move was resisted by members of the group who stood their grounds prompting the soldiers to beat a retreat.

However on Tuesday, the army reportedly drafted no fewer than ten APCs thus prompting members of IPOB from across all the five eastern states to mobilise to frustrate any move to forcibly arrest their leader.
