Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Ayotunde Philips has stated that results of elections into local government and local council development areas are to be declared at the various collation centres in the state.
Elections are to holder chairmanship and councillorship posts in the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State on Saturday.
A statement from LASIEC on Wednesday quoted Justice Phillips as having made this known while speaking with some stakeholders on the preparations of the commission for the elections.
The statement added that “Hon. Justice Phillips stressed that the commission would, however, be monitoring developments at the various Collation Centres and other locations in the State through reports sent to the Election Support Centre at the headquarters by the field officers of the Commission.”
Meanwhile, the commission has continued the deployment of non-sensitive materials to the Electoral Officers in the 57Local Governments/ Local Council Development Areas of the State in preparations for the elections.
“With the early deployment of the materials to the Local Governments and Local council development areas, the commission intends to eliminate any delay that could militate against the smooth conduct of the elections on Saturday.
“The Electoral Officers are expected to distribute the materials to Supervisory Presiding Officers in their Local Governments/ Local Council Development Areas who will, in turn, distribute the materials to the Presiding Officers for the conduct of the elections,” the statement reads in part.
