Afenifere responsible for S’West backwardness, says Akeredolu
Ondo State Governor, Mr, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has blamed the pan-yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere as responsible for the backwardness in the Southwest region of the country.
This is coming just as he also contended the 2014 National Conference initiated by former President Goodluck Jonathan as ‘gathering of fraudulent characters’.
The governor also accused Nigerian Students of contributing to the problems in the society by offering awards generously and celebrating criminals, impositors and opportunities in positions of authorities.
Akeredolu spoke On Thursday during the inauguration of the new leadership of the National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) held at Babafunke Ajasin Auditorium, Akure, the state capital.
Represented by his Senior Special Assistant (SSA)on Special Duties, Dr Doyin Odebowale, the governor particularly criticised the involvement of two prominent Yoruba, Gani Adams and Yinka Odumakin in the conference to buttress his point.
The governor described the duo as not worthy of representing the interest of the Yoruba people stressing that they only paraded themselves as Yoruba leaders without consulting the people they claimed to have led in decision-making.
He also faulted the participation of the Zaki of Arigidi-Akoko, Oba Yisa Olanipekun in the Confab.
The former President, Nigerian Bar Association(NBA) condemned the Conference saying“ they just gathered themselves to share billions of tax payers money in the name of National Conference.
“They even expect people like us who did not have input in their deliberations to accept the report, these people are Lilliputians that our society celebrate today”
