The news making round that the founder of the Synagogue Church for All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Joshua is considering changing his earlier decision to relocate the headquarters of his missionary from Lagos to Jerusalem (Israel) has taken another dimension as the man of God is seriously confused at the moment.
This is coming few days after notable Nigerians such as the Nigerian Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Bashorun Dele Momodu, appealed to the popular cleric, fondly called T.B Joshua by his admirers, to shelve the idea of leaving the shores of Nigeria.
Also, an interest group called ‘Ondo for Truth’ in Ondo state where the prophet hails from had in a news report published by the Sunday 23rd May edition of The Nation Newspaper, advised T.B. Joshua to shelve the Idea of relocating SCOAN to Isreal.
The group had said instead of relocating SCOAN to Isreal, a foreign land that plays host to millions of Christian on a yearly basis, T.B Joshua should rather consider its relocation to Akoko Area of Ondo State.
The group promised to facilitate the release of at least 200 acres of land in Akoko free of charge to T.B Joshua if he could consider the offer.
“We read in the national dailies that due to some reasons which we are yet to be told officially, that one of the golden sons of our state, Prophet T.B Joshua is considering relocating the headquarters of his Church from Lagos to Jerusalem in Israel.
“While we respect the man of God’s rights to liberty and dignity, we however want to advise him to shelve the idea of relocating to a foreign land that is already congested by Christian pilgrims from all over the world. In the light of the foregoing, we hereby plead with him to relocate from Lagos to Ondo State, particularly, the Akoko axis where he hails from.
“We want to say that we mean business. We have started talking to traditional rulers from the four local government areas in Akoko land to see if they can facilitate the release of at least 200 acres of land to T.B Joshua if he chose to relocate to Ondo State and they agree. In fact, they are all looking ahead for T.B Joshua to make the announcement of the relocation”. The group was quoted as saying in The Nation Newspaper.
The Federal Government of Nigeria through his mouth piece, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has also appealed to TB Joshua to reconsider his decision to relocate from Nigeria.
He said such move will not be in the best of the country.
Mohammed in a chat with journalists during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigerian Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) in Lagos last week described Joshua’s decision as unfortunate.
Mohammed called for dialogue between the pastor and the authorities over whatever challenges he was facing.
His words: “That will be very unfortunate in the sense that if he does move out, it will affect our tourism in Nigeria.
“Pastor Joshua is an important person, he must bear with us. This is his country; if he moves out and go to South Africa, for example, the revenue will go to South Africa.
“It is better that Pastor Joshua sits down with the relevant authority and resolve whatever problem he has. If I have access to him, this is exactly what I am going to tell him.” Mohammed said.
Also, Ovation Magazine Chief Executive Officer, Dele Momodu has written to T.B Joshua, pleading with him not to leave Nigeria.
Like Mohammed, Momodu cited the economic effect of relocating the church from Nigeria.
“It is normal for human beings to concoct true and imaginary tales about newsmakers. You have been a subject and victim of such incredible rumour-mongering over the decades that I have known you.
“Some have alleged that you are not a genuine disciple of God. They’ve alleged that you are fetish and use native jazz to heal miracle-seekers. Some have even called your miracles mere optical illusions.
“That you are nothing short of a magician but these myriad of detractors have never diminished your popularity globally.
“I have written all these examples as my personal testimonial to you. In a country where many try to hide behind one finger, I wish to stand tall and tell the world that you are a good man, even if others think or say otherwise.
“I have read that you wish to abandon Nigeria and migrate to Israel. It will never happen. You cannot and should not allow your enemies run you out of town. God has been very kind to you.
“Just look back and see your journey from way back in Ondo State. What more can God do for any man who has served him loyally and fervently like you have done.
“My dear man of God, I align my voice with those who plead that you remain in Nigeria. I have chosen to do so publicly because I believe it is necessary.” Momodu stated.
However, In a bid to knowing the reaction of the prophet on whether he’s still bent on relocating to Israel, a top pastor at SCOAN who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity as he doesn’t want his name mentioned in the press said that ever since the famous Pastor was arraigned in court in 2016 over the collapse of SCOAN’s six-story Guest House which killed 116 people in 2014, coupled with serious victimization from the part of the Lagos state government, the man of God was highly disappointed by the role the Nigerian government played in the whole fiasco especially that of Lagos state.
The collapsed building claimed the lives of 116 people out of whom 80 were South Africans.
In His words, the man of God who is a close ally of Prophet T.B Joshua, said “recall our leader, pastor and prophet was arraigned alongside all the Trustees of our reputable church and two engineers who constructed the collapsed building, while the South African government were treading softly with us in knowing the rationale behind the disheartening and unfortunate incident, The Lagos State government was busy victimizing the church and the prophet claiming that SCOAN did not have authorization or a legal permit to add floors to the collapsed guesthouse.”
“We beg to ask, how is this possible? How would such a gigantic edifice been erected without acquiring proper and necessary documents? We believe all this are targeted purposely to blackmail the man of God, turn the back of his congregation to him and send him packing from the country”
“That was the main reason I’m sure he’s considering relocating to Israel since Nigerian government seems to be tired of him.”
“But now that notable Nigerians including the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Mr. Dele Momodu and even people from Ondo State are calling on the man of God to shelve the idea of leaving Nigeria, Our Daddy in thy lord is considering staying in Nigeria but he has made up his mind to relocate the Headquarters out of Lagos State.
Though we are yet to know his final conclusion but his body movement shows that he’s considering moving to a site along Ore-Benin road in Ondo State where he hails from”, he said.
TB Joshua in some weeks ago announced that he would relocate from Nigeria to Israel due to “hostile environment”.
He said, “This is the most persecuted ministry in the world. Who are the people persecuting the ministry? My people, Nigerians, Africa!
“That is why I choose to live a lonely life. If you want to see me, come to this church. I don’t go out. It has not been easy – because I don’t know who is a friend or who is an enemy.
“If you learn TB Joshua is not around, I am in a revival. I live in the church here. I don’t have a house outside.”
“What happened to me from the beginning of my ministry is enough to chase me out of this country.
“But I am still in your midst. Upon the persecution and hatred, I decided to follow the path of love. You show hatred; I show love.
“When I go for a revival, you will see the stadium full but I am not carried away by that. I leave where I’m celebrated to live where I’m persecuted.” T.B Joshua averred.
