A socio-political interest group, Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation (AGF), has accused those it referred to as “faceless groups” of plots to cause a crisis between President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The body said the groups are capitalizing on the recent statement credited to the former Interim National Chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande to fan embers of discourse among the top hierarchy of the ruling party.
In a statement on Thursday by AGF National Coordinator, Comrade Adeleye Akintola denounced “devilish political manoeuvres to malign Tinubu and other prominent leaders in Yoruba land.”
It said Akande reserves the moral right to advise the leadership of the country and speak up against perceived wrongs within the system he laboured so much to build “before it would become a moral burden on him.”
AGF said: “After careful investigations, we can reliably gather that these are beer parlour gossips and fair weather political jobbers whose lifeline depends solely on devilish political sponsorship to malign our party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
“We want Nigerians to know that sponsors of these faceless groups only hide under the recent press statement credited to Chief Akande in relaunching their shameless campaign of calumny betraying their hatred for the truth.
“One thing they fail to understand is that the major obstacle against 16 years of PDP’s misrule was lack of internal but objective criticisms that would have directed the conscience of the party aright while it lasted.
“Information at our disposal revealed that sponsors of the veiled groups are beneficiaries of the duo of Tinubu and Akande as regular visitors to Bourdillon and Ila Orangun.”
