Council Chair flags off road rehabilitation in Ondo

Local government caretaker chairman in Akure North area of Ondo state,Segun Oluyede on Monday flagged off grading and rehabilitation of feeder roads in the local government. 
 
The development is in strict compliance with the directive by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN while administering oath of office on the 18 local council chairmen in the state.

Akeredolu at the swearing in ceremony urged the council officials to develop the grassroots in all forms. 

Speaking with reporters during the commencement of the exercise at Ayede-Ogbese community, Oluyede said the step was in fulfilment of the assignment given them by Akeredolu to work more on rural roads. 
 
According to him,these are the roads linking many farm lands where farmers will enjoy smooth transportation of their crops to markets in towns and urban centres for sale to the consumers. 
 
He said the development would ease the burden of farmers in moving their farm produce to accessible areas. 
 
Oluyede criticized the previous administration for neglecting roads particularly those in rural communities.
 
 
The chairman said his administration would prioritise agriculture for food suffiency and employment opportunies for numerous unemployed youth.
 
 
He noted that the local government has many agrarian communities, stressing that rehabilitation of rural roads in the area would boost agriculture and internally generated revenue in Akure north local council.
 
 
The chairman promised to encourage farmers in the area to be more productive in their trade.
