Lagos Mandate Group gets New State Chairman.

Alhaji Abdullahi Enilolubo, a grassroots politician and community leader has been appointed as the New Chairman of The Mandate Group (TMG), a political caucus group within the Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.

Enilolobo succeeds Alhaji Ganiyu Badmus, also a prominent politician from Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area.

Badmus took power from Cardinal James Odumbaku in 2014. Odumbaku served from 1999 to 2014, making him the longest serving chairman of the group in Lagos State.

Reacting, a member within the group who spoke on condition of anonymity to our correspondent on Monday in Lagos said the leadership change in The Mandate Group became necessary having painstakingly perused the activities of the organization in the last three years.

“The Mandate group is unarguably the most dominant political caucus group within our great party, and this is a statement of fact. However, a perusal of our actions and activities in the last three years necessitated why we should have a leadership change.

“We are lagging behind in the political calculations of the state. No programme of action in the last 2 years. Nothing new to raise the attention of members. Rather, we have been visited with numerous setbacks that are avoidable. Hues, cries and divisions within the structure everywhere!
“Things are monotonous and going astray so, we felt we should bring in a more resourceful, imaginative and quick-witted young man to pilot our affairs hence the appointment of Enilolobo,” the strong member of the group who does not want his name mentioned said.

With the appointment of Alhaji Enilolobo, it is expected that the young man would move fast to carry out necessary reforms that would position the group for optimal performance that its members are used to, more so with the Local Government Election just around the corner.
“A survey conducted recently showed the dominant influence of the Mandate Group in excess of 90%, which means we only need to tighten some loose ends; we are home and dry,” says our source.
