Ebute-Ibafo Speed Boat Operators Seek Government Intervention On Jetty

Operators of speed boats in Ebute-Ibafo area of Lagos State have requested for the intervention of the state government on the repair of the jetty in the station.

According to the Chairman of the operators, Mr. Olukolun Oseni, the boat operators in the area abandoned the jetty, which was built in 2012, because its  substandard.

He told members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, who visited the area as part of their oversight functions on Friday, that the jetty was abandoned because it was not properly handed over to the operators.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu told the operators that the purpose of the visit was to know the state of things in the jetty and find a lasting solution to their problems.

The committee also visited a section of the Third Mainland Bridge, which Hon. Yishawu said that’s efforts are being made to improve the road network and traffic situation in the area.

He stated that the government is  committed to improving water transportation in the state and the project will kick off soon.

Another area visited by the committee was Oworonsoki Area, where Yishawu said it would be reclaimed and turned to a jetty so as to provide and improve water transportation in the state.

The lawmaker emphasized that the House is committed to improving the lives of the people of the state through oversight functions and progressive laws.
