Wikipedia in conjunction with the Goethe institute and blackface Media organised an event at the Goethe institute in lagos Nigeria to celebrate the international women’s day.
The program which is in line with the Wikipedia project in Nigeria “wiki loves women” aimed at promoting women in Nigeria and the world at large
Speaking at the intl conference, Olusola Olaniyan the head of Wikipedia Nigeria and the project lead “wiki loves women” spoke on the need for the profile of women to be put up on the world’s largest encyclopaedia.
he spoke about the low content of women on Wikipedia which consists of 15% of write ups and how women need to be celebrated.
Present at the occasion were women led groups and NGOs.
Iyalode alaba Lawson who was represented by Mrs Okuribido urged government to support women to attain greater heights.
Also Nneka Isaac Moses of goge Africa urged women to take their eyes of material things and focus on positive change.
The founder of she writes women Hauwa Ojeifo spoke on the need for women leaving with mental disorder to speak out on their ailment and drop the fear of being stigmatised.
