Assailants kill mother, three kids in Lagos church

RAYMOND TEDUNJAYE, Lagos.

Residents of Agbowa village, an outskirt of Ikorodu town in Lagos state, yesterday woke up to discover the corpses of a woman and her three kids at a church in the area.

Though, the identities of the corpses were yet to be ascertained, but the ages of the kid ranges between four and nine years.

As at the time of filing the report, details of the incidents are still sketchy, but the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Fatai Owoseni, however said that an intensive investigation to unravel the cause of the incident had commenced.

Briefing journalists at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, he said the yet to be identified woman and her kids were killed by suspected hoodlums at an uncompleted church in Agbowa at the early hours of Wednesday.

“Between 2 and 3 am on Wednesday the incident occurred at Agbowa town in Ikorodu axis of Lagos State. Some hoodlums entered an uncompleted building and brutally murdered a woman and her three children.

“The woman (yet to be identified) having sustained injuries later died at a hospital around 4:30 am this morning. It is still hasty to conclude on the reason behind the attack” he said.

Explaining the role of the police on the matter he said: “When we got a distress call around 2 am this morning, I immediately deplored police officers to the area and we found out that the ages of the kids involved in the incident were four, five and nine.

“For now, we cannot conclude maybe it was master minded by ritualists or otherwise. Investigation is ongoing but what I can assure members of the public is that we shall get to root of the matter and the culprits will soon be brought to book.

“Police will not condone any crime no matter the caliber of people involved. We have been working with other security agencies and Lagos state government. We shall stop at nothing to arrest and prosecute those who committed the offence soon.”

The Police boss pleaded with members of the public to give useful information to his men in order to assist them to arrest hoodlums who perpetrated the incident
