EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu

EFCC chair: AGF clears Magu for Senate screening

By Wahab Akanji, Abuja
Reprieve seems to have come the way of the embattled acting Chairman of the Economic Financial and other Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu.
This is because President Muhammadu Buhari has informed the Senate that Magu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, have been cleared of corruption charges following an investigation into allegations against them.
Magu has recently had his nomination turned down by members of the upper legislative chambers who, acting on a security report from the Directorate of State Security (DSS) refused to confirm his position.
But Buhari said this in a letter to the Senate re-nominating Magu as Chairman of the EFCC said the investigative panel constituted by government headed by the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami.
In the letter read by Senate President Bukola Saraki, Buhari said Magu and Lawal were cleared of corruption in a report by the Attorney General of the Federation.
