The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State lacked required decorum to function effectively as the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum.
Speaking to reporters in Akure, the state capital on Monday, its Publicity Secretary, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, said “PDP is jumping from fry-pan to fire, and that the Party is on a voyage of total destruction and abandonment, with the emergence of uncultured person like Governor Fayose whose records are devoid of public decorum and leadership virtues”.
He recalled June 2I, 2015, during a media briefing, when he described Mimiko’s emergence as PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman,as a mark of failure and end of the road for the party.
According to him,“This shows that the Party (PDP), is lacking in men and women of proven integrity, with high level of mental alertness, considering the enormous challenges facing our dear country ranging from insecurity, insurgency, economic downturn, unemployment, poverty, corruption, among other vices, that the PDP had plugged the country into in their sixteen years of misrule”.
“Under Mimiko, as the Chairman PDP Governors Forum, the Party disintegrated and polarised into factions -(fry pan), now to Fayose(fire), a total destruction.
“It is unfortunate that Fayose, who was alleged to have beaten up a Judge in his state; who has criminal charges hanging on his neck; who is seen as an outcast in a polite society like ours; an individual that lacks decorum; who is seen to be suffering from `diarrhoea of the mouth’, could be allowed to lead such a sensitive group like PDP Governors’ Forum”.
Adesanya said the development was a wake-up call for the opposition to have a decent voice with constructive criticism in the interest of our democracy, to always propagate good leadership that Fayose lacked.
