Suspected kidnapper nabbed in attempt to abduct victim in Ondo

Nemesis caught up with a middled aged man who was apprehended by residents while attempting to kidnap a staff-nurse working with Okeagbe-Akoko Basic Health Centre, Miss Damilola Alao.

The sad incidence occured at Arigidi Akoko in Akoko Northwest Local Government area of Ondo state on Wednesday night.

Eye witness said Damilola who was coming from Akure,the state capital arrived Ikare-Akoko on wednesday night and could not get vehicle going to her station at Okeagbe-Akoko.

She was said to have contacted a commercial cyclist who agreed to carry her at higher rate to her destination.

It was learnt that after they left Arigidi-Akoko, the motorbike operator suddenly changed his route to the old Imo-Arigidi road,the development which forced the nurse to resist, but the rider argued that policemen would disturh him on the major Arigidi- Okeagbe road.

Consequently,it was learnt that the rider stopped on the road and forcefully took her telephone set and hand bag belonging to the nurse from her.

He was said to have beaten her, before forcing her to surrender for sexual intercourse

Sources said as when he was having the carnal knowledge of the nurse, he suddenly saw the head light of an on coming vehicle and he escaped with his motorbike.

The restless victim was said to have narrated her ordeal to the driver who volunteered to pursue the ‘okada man’ who was incidentally caught when he fell down from the bike.

Residents within the area quickly came out and apprehended the man who was said to have been beaten to a pulp by irate mob before being handed over to the police in Arigidi-Akoko.

The accused was later transfered to Okeagbe Divisional Headqurters where he was being interrogated.

He was quoted to have confessed that he was not alone in the act of raping and kidnapping of innocent people.

The Divisional Police Officer(DPO) for Okeagbe,Olu Dimeji confirmed the incident,stressing that the case was more of attempted rape.
