Okorocha salutes Anyaoku at 84, says ex-diplomat has done Africa proud

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has described former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Organisation, Chief Emeka Anyaoku as a detribalized Nigerian who has “demonstrated unbridled patriotism and glaring love for the oneness and development of the nation”.

The Imo Governor in a goodwill message on Anyaoku’s 84th birthday anniversary, stated that he has done Africa proud in all ramifications, adding that “Anyaoku a role model and inspiration for the younger generation”.

Okorocha in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, observed that “Anyaoku as the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth acquitted himself well and proved that given the opportunity, Africa could offer the right direction to the entire world”.

He asserted that the former Commonwealth scribe has done Ndigbo proud, adding that, “the Igbo are proud that Chief Anyaoku is one of their own”.

The Governor also noted that “the nation at the moment needs more leaders like Chief Anyaoku who have demonstrated unbridled patriotism and glaring love for the oneness and development of the nation at the expense of their personal comfort”.

He opined that “when the history of Nigeria, Africa and that of the world will be written, Chief Anyaoku would be accorded befitting chapters”.

According to him, “the elder statesman is ageing gracefully having done the nation, Africa and Ndi Igbo in particular proud in all ramifications. Chief Anyaoku remains a model and an inspiration to the younger generation”.

The Governor prayed that God should continue to preserve the life of Chief Anyaoku “because Nigeria, Africa and the world in general, more than ever before, need the services of men like Anyaoku and for what they represent while wishing the elder statesman more fruitful years ahead”.
