Outgoing Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Cromwell Idahosa, has ordered the release of eight awaiting trial inmates at Ubiaja Minimum Security Prison.
Justice Idahosa released the inmates during his farewell visit to the High Court at Ekpoma and Nigeria Prison at Ubiaja in Esan South East local government.
The eight awaiting trial inmates were released based in ill-health and over staying their limit in prison waiting for trial.
Justice Idahosa commended the courts at the Ekpoma Division and urged them to support his successor, Justice Esther Edigin.
He called for more Judges to be deployed to the Esan Central Senatorial district to speed up dispensation of justice.
His successor, Justice Edigin, hailed the leadership style of Justice Idahosa saying his impact would be felt in the renovation of Judges’ quarters in the zone.
Justice Edigin said many courts in Edo Central were in a state of disrepair due to neglect by successive administration.
