Osun seeks vigilance among residents over fear of insurgency

By Akeeb Alarape, Osogbo
Osun State Government has urged residents of the state to be vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agents, saying insurgents were employing different tactics to wreak havoc.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Mr Tope Adejumo, made the call while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo on the state of security in the area.
Adejumo restated the need for the people to remain vigilant as Security Agencies continued to use all means at their disposal to combat crime in the State.
According to him, “there is need to sensitise members of the public to be on the look-out for strange and devilish faces in their environment.
“If people cannot go to the Police Stations to report suspicious movements, they are free to make phone calls to the police through this number: 080123823981-Police Distress Number”.
He also implored security agencies not to be deterred in their efforts to rid the state of cultism, armed robbery and other social vices.
Adejumo added that insurgents that had been dislodged from Sambisa forest in Borno, and now disarray, may employ different tactics to cause destruction.
The adviser commended security agencies in the state for the arrest of the alleged killers of a 400-level student of the Osun State University, Miss Rofiat Adebisi, and implored them not to rest on their oars.
