Army plans small arms championship in Sambisa Forest

The Nigerian Army has stated that it has concluded plans for a Small Arms Championship (NASAC) in Sambisa forest, the former stronghold of Boko Haram insurgents.

The Chief of Training and Operations, (CITOP), Major General David Ahmadu told journalists yesterday that it will be the first time in seven years that the inter-formation competition which is scheduled for March 2017 would be held thus it was significant it will be held in Sambisa Forest.

“We have done everything to ensure a smooth competition which will also be accompanied by concentration of fires from direct and indirect  ?weapons system of the Nigerian Army. In addition, the Roland Missile Weapon System in the Nigerian Army armoury would also be test fired during the NASAC.”

General Ahmadu said Exercise Harbin Kunama 11, will be held in Southern Kaduna, Bimin gwari, Kyambana forest and contiguous areas in Plateau state, Lame Burra forest in Bauchi state and Falgore forest in Kano state. The Exercise will hold in April 2017 and will also entail the conduct of some civil-military activities.

The CITOP said the exercises will? entail massive movement of personnel and military hardware across the country and urged the public not to panic as safety of lives and properties is guaranteed.
