Exclusive Sheriff faction of PDP set to join APC in South West

There are indications that the Ali Modu Sheriff led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in the South Western part of the country are set to dump their party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The indication might not be unconnected to the series of consultations ongoing between the leadership of the APC in the zone and the splinter group of the PDP in recent times.
A source within the zonal chapter of the PDP told BLACKFACE in a telephone interview on Friday that the deal has been concretised that what remains is the perfect timing for the move to take place.
According to the source who pleaded not to be mentioned, “We have been meeting with the leadership of the APC in the South West and so far the feed backs have been positive and any time from now, we will move but the timing is what we are still considering.
The source stated that one of the major leaders that have been contacted by the PDP members is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed who the source stated has been very ‘receptive and cooperative to the idea.’
Another issue that has delayed their defection has to do with the what the APC would offering them as incentive before throwing their hats into the ring.
“We are still engaging the leadership of the APC regarding what they will be offering our caucus when we leave. They have made their offers after we presented our own and we are still studying what the are proposing the source who is a factional zonal executive member of the party told our correspondent.
On why they want to leave the PDP and whether it has the tacit approval of their factional chairman , the source said, “Why won’t we leave, the party is in disarray with no clear cut leadership. We dont need the approval of Sheriff for us to dictate our political future”
A controversial senator from Ogun State is said to be coordinating the move which many see as capable of further weakening the ranks of the former ruling party in the South West.
Recently, factional chairmen of the party in the six states making up the zone converged on the residence of the affected senator where the pledged their allegiance to his leadership of the party in the region.
