2019: Ogun APC crisis deepens as Amosun set to demolish Solomon’s house

By Ahmed Shobiye, Abeokuta
The crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) took another dimension on Wednesday as Governor Ibikunle Amosun has marked the property of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola’s (YAYI) Ilaro home for demolition.
Though a serving senator representing Lagos West district at the upper legislative chambers, Olamilekan popularly Yayi by his supporters is eyeing the Government House, Abeokuta being a native of Ilaro in the West senatorial district.
A protege of the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Solomon’s ambition has been ruflling a lot of feathers in the state as his bid has brought him into conflict with Amosun who is rooting for another candidate to succeed him in 2019.
The move itself has thrown up series of alignments in the political space of the state with Tinubu teaming up with a former Governor of the state and an enstranged godfather of Amosun, Chief Olusegun Osoba.
Sensing the political mileage that the alignment would impact on his chances of installing a successor, sources in the state told BLACKFACE that Amosun has commenced series of moves to cut Solomon down to sizes.
Though the property that has been marked in located in Ilaro, the hometown of Solomon, those in the know however told our correspondent that the governor has directed the urban and physical planning ministry of his government to go on a demolishing spree of the properties identified to be properties of Solomon anywhere in the state.
According to our source, the directive of the governor after Solomon hosted over 200 former local government councillors.
The ministry officials visited the mansion on Tuesday and gave the owner a notice of demolition in 3 days.
Other targeted property include his Abeokuta GRA residence and few of the residences of his Ogun State political supporters like those belonging to former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon Tunji Egbetokun.
Reports suggest that the governor is going increasingly impatient and intolerant with the growing popularity of the senator Solomon coupled with his visible physical appearances in the state.
It was further gathered that the state government had stationed a bulldozer and excavator less than 1km away to effect the demolition as soon as the 3 day deadline lapses.
Efforts to reach the Ogun State born Lagos politician Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola or his media adviser Bashorun Kayode Odunaro proved abortive.
