Odunmbaku, Lagos APC chieftain cheats death in road mishap

odunmbaku-5But for providence and divine arrangement, the Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbakun would died in a mysterious road mishap on Sunday.
Sources close to the popular politician told BLACKFACE that the incidence occurred at the Lagos-Ibadan Express Way when his Toyota Land Cruiser bullet proof vehicle caught fire in circumstances said to be mysterious.
odunmbaku-1  odunmbaku-3 A native of Abeokuta, Odunmbaku was said to be returning back to base when the vehicle, which he refused to board throughout the journey burst into flames as his driver named Sayo Sulaiman tried to put out a smoke, which was oozing out from the politician’s seat in the car.
odunmbaku-4“Cardinal Odunmbaku cheated death on Sunday. We thank God that he didn’t board the Toyota jeep (SUV) that he uses,” said one of his supporters who spoke to our correspondent on Tuesday.
According to her (source), that the incidence was the second to have happened to Odunmbaku this year as the first one which claimed his Toyota Tundra vehicle occurred on Third Mainland Bridge earlier this year.
odunmbaku-2Commenting on the recent incidence, the dependable source told our correspondent that Odunmbaku had some engagements in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital but rather than travel in his personal car opted for another vehicle in his convoy.
“Cardinal was not too disposed to travelling in his bullet proof Toyota vehicle. We were surprised when he decided to travel in one of the back up cars in his convoy. We asked him why but he simply told us that he wasn’t too disposed to travelling in the vehicle.” The source said.
She stated that the trip to Abeokuta was without hitch but the return trip proved to be fatal not for the politician but for Sulaiman his driver who is said to be lying critically ill in an undisclosed location.
Recounting the incident, the source said, “Baba Eto never wanted to return on Saturday which he usually does but he decided to come back on Sunday, a move considered very unusual because he ought to have returned so as to lead Sunday worship. But he stayed behind.”
“On Sunday, he decided to return to Lagos. The trip was smooth sailing until the convoy stopped at the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, precisely at the other end of Mowe where Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is located.”
She stated that the cause of the stoppage was Sulaiman who stated that he saw smoke oozing out of the corner where Odunmbaku usually sat.
“The Sulaiman reached out for the fire extinguisher to quench the fire but he was unlucky as the vehicle exploded on his face wounding him critically,” she said.
The incidence left the politicians badly shaken as his premonition came true with the incidence.
