Ganduje warns against emergence of one party rule

By Musa Madobi, Kano

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Ganduje has warned against the emergence of a one-party rule in the country.

Ganduje however stated that recent victories of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo and Ondo states were in appreciation of what the party is doing in both the states and national level.

Addressing newsmen in Kano on Monday, he said. “A one party system is not good for this country. But if one party system will evolve in appreciation of what the central government is doing, let it be. But I know that if is difficult.

“We won the elections in Edo and Ondo state. It showed that APC as a party is a well established party and having well committed members. We are great planners and we have the backing of the national headquarters of the party.

“Those who were involved in those elections were great planners and people are appreciating what is happening at the national level and what the state governors are doing.”

He said while people voted for the APC in Edo state in appreciation of what the federal and state government are doing, “In Ondo state however, people are not appreciating what the state government was doing and people wanted a change and change has come.”

Speaking on the legislative rerun elections in Rivers state, he assured that the party was strategizing for a free, fair and transparent election, saying “we know it is a difficult terrain. But we are ready because we are used to such terrains”.
