Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Ikeme recovers from hip injury

By Femi Adefioye, Lagos

Super Eagles and Wolverhamton Wanderers goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme has returned to form from a hip he suffered against Bolton Wanderers in October.

After a month on the sidelines Ikeme finally returned to action for Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday in an English Championship game.

The goalkeeper suffered a hip injury in his side’s 1-1 draw at Bolton Wanderers on October 30.

It has been a long road back to fitness for the 30-year-old, who missed Super Eagles’ victory against Algeria in a World Cup qualifying encounter in Uyo.

Ikeme was handed a starter’s shirt in their 2-1 victory against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road – courtesy of goals from David Edwards and Helder Costa.

However, he was replaced in the 83rd minute by Andy Lonergan. His side sits in 19th position on the log with 21 points from 19 games.
