Ex-sports minister, Abdullahi replaces Lai Mohammed as APC’s spokesman

By Wahab Akanji, Abuja
Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, has been picked to replace Alhaji Lai Mohammed as spokesperson of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mohammed who vacated the office upon his appointment as Minister for Information and Culture is from Kwara State as Abdullahi.
At a meeting of the North Central zone of the party held at Chelsea Hotel, Abuja, on Thursday, Abdullahi, a journalist was picked ahead of others who were considered for the post.
An ally of Senate President Bukola Saraki, Abdullahi was sacked as sport minister by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014.
The appointment of Abdullahi thus put to rest, months of speculations regarding who the spokesman of the ruling party would be with the Assistant National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Timi Frank laying claims to the post.
Frank’s claims have put him on collision course with the leadership of the APC who has instituted a process of expelling him from the party.
