By Sunday Aloba, Ado-Ekiti

Ekiti State Government has approved the elevation of 1,300 local
government workers from the junior to senior cadre.

Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Sola Omotoso made this known at the end of his tour of the 16
council headquarters.

After tours, said six fresh appointments of administration officers and accountants were made while the appointment of 30 existing officers into the same cadres were ratified.

Omotoso explained that the affected officers consisted of workers
that were due for promotion from 2011 to 2014, adding that those
appointed as Administration Officers and Accountants had written and
passed the requisite examination and interviews from 2005 to date.

He said that it was ironic that the last time successful candidates of ASCON exams and other necessary interviews were similarly absorbed into the service was during the first term of Governor Ayoele Fayose about 10 years ago.

He however emphasized the need for the workers to continually support
government’s efforts to better their lot, stressing that they must
reciprocate the gesture by living up to their responsibilities and
making diligence and dedication to duty their watchwords.

He said that the process t fill the resultant vacancies would soon commence.
