PDM sacks executive members, offers membership to Atiku, others

A political party, the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) has sacked members of its National Working Committee and appointed a 13 member caretaker committee to over see the affairs of the party for the next three months.

This is coming just as members have tasked the new caretaker committee to organise a national convention to elect new leaders in the next three months.

At the end of the extraordinary meeting on Thursday, the party also opened its doors to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and any other Nigerians willing to join it.

In a communique at the end of its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, the party said the decision to sack its leadership was in view of the urgent need to save the party from dying.

They asked the Inspector General of a Police to immediately commence urgent investigation into the conduct of the dissolved executive whom they accused of gross misconducts and for compromising the oath of office they subscribed to.

The communique read by the Acting National Secretary, Ifeanyi Igwe mandated the Caretaker Committee to review the activities of the party at all levels with a view to preparing it present candidates for all levels of elections in 2019.

In his acceptance speech, the Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Munir Waziri described his appointment as an ethical call to action to salvage the soul of the party which represents the dream vehicle for the attainment of a logically galvanized Nigeria.

He said: PDM has been in the turf of Nigeria democracy longer than the authority favored political dancers of the moment. Also, the ancestral elements that established the PDM has paid prices for the entrenchment of democracy far more than any politician on the field today.

“Our journey to reclaim those ideals as dreamt by our leaders, late and alive is my movie atop. To accept this task and so we must ride together to its actualisation of the glory of our nation and its collective values that make us a great purposely hinted people.
