Police parades ASP, 12 others in renew onslaught against service misconduct

The top echelon of the Nigeria Police Force has paraded 13 of its personnel whom it accused of engaging in various forms of misconduct.

This is coming just as the force through the Inspector General, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has promised to stamp out all forms of service misconduct on the part of its personnel.

Spokesman for the force, Mr. Don Awunor who briefed the media at the force headquarters on Tuesday listed some of the misconduct to include aiding and abetting serious crimes,  conspiracy with militants.
According to the spokesman, the other offense committed by the paraded men include disappearance of explosives.
While insisting that the police hierarchy has instituted strict measures to ensure that the conduct of officers and men of the Force conform to international best practices and norms, Awunor added that ~Consequently, personnel of the Force who use their official capacities to carry out or get involved in any misconduct are singled out and dealt with according to the law to serve as deterrent to others.~
In all, no fewer than 9 personnel where paraded for compromising in the discharge of their duties and betraying the official oath of office.
Those paraded were a dismissed ASP, Yuguda Abbah, Habila Sarki, Diphen Nimmyel, Yasan Danda, Abbas Mailalle,Bwanason Tanko, Donan James, (all sergeants).
Others were Idris Salisu and Zakari Kofi, both corporal, saying the interrogation and confessions of the men has led to the arrest of principal suspects and recovery of many arms and ammunition.
