Ekiti elevates 129 teachers to the post of Principals, Vice Principals

Ekiti State Government has promoted 54 Vice Principals to Principals while 75 Heads of Departments (HODs) were elevated to the post of Vice Principal.The Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mr. Abiodun Faluyi made this known in Ado Ekiti during a meeting with Principals and Vice Principals of public secondary schools in the State.

Mr. Faluyi explained that the development transcends reward for hard-work, stressing that the promotion exercise was particular about the ability and readiness of the affected teachers to perform well in their new portfolios.

Describing teachers as Nation-Builders, Faluyi noted that they have the onerous responsibility of parenting multitude of school children under their care without bias to the diverse background of the children, emphasizing how important and vital their role is in the effort to resuscitate and sustain a high standard of education in the State.

He therefore charged the Principals to justify the confidence reposed in them by living up to their responsibilities adding that they must ensure discipline in their respective schools and inculcate reading habit in the children under their tutelage towards achieving the desired result.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, Mr. Sunday Adebayo warned that Government would not tolerate any form of unprofessionalism, stressing that hard-work, diligence and good results would however be rewarded.

Responding, the President of the State chapter of the All Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Mr. Abiodun Omotoso appealed for the engagement of more teachers to check the inadequate number of teachers for some subjects.

Mr Omotoso who also pleaded for provision of adequate security in schools with the construction of perimeter fences and employment of security guards among others, pledged on behalf of his association to leave no stone unturned towards achieving the desired goal of returning the State’s education sector to its pride of place.
