FG to establish N50m ICT centre in Jigawa

A member of the National Assembly, Sen. Ubali Shittu, said the Federal Government would  establish a N50 million Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training centre in Hadejia, Jigawa.
Shittu, who represents Jigawa North Senatorial District at the Senate, stated this at a stakeholder’s forum for University of Abuja Distance Learning programme on Sunday in Hadejia.

He said that about N30 million would be spent on the construction of centre while it would be equipped with N20 million.
He added that the project would be executed under the constituency project of the National Assembly.
Shittu explained that the centre would offer free training programmes on ICT to improve skills and computer literacy in the society.
He said that the centre would also organise remedial programmes and tutorial classes for candidates for Senior School Examination Certificate (SSCE), National Examination Council (NECO) and Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
“The centre is designed to prepare and expose students for distance learning programme, JAMB and SSCE examinations to IT programmes.
“It will also enhance computer literacy in the society,” he said, adding that effective modalities were being put in place to promote community participation in the management of the centre.
The lawmaker called on wealthy individuals and educationists in the state to volunteer in the teaching of remedial students in the area.
He also said that the Federal Government had earmarked N70 million in the 2017 fiscal year for the construction of entrepreneurship training centre in Hadejia.
