President Mohammadu Buhari has once again alluded that the current economic quagmire facing the country is as a result of mismanagement of resources by the Jonathan’s administrations.
President Buhari stated this at a parley with members of course 38 of the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Plateau State in Abuja today.
Receiving the report which is on Strengthening Institutional Mechanisms for Poverty Reduction and Inclusive Development handed the members of the course this year, the president said he was glad that the report as presented has given the country reason to keep faith in its ability to overcome such challenges.
Noting that though several policies and programmes have been implemented over the years, as rightly observed by the report, they have however not broken the cycle of poverty in Nigeria.
But assured that from the findings of the research by the participants, it is evident that strengthening of the nation’s institutions is key to reducing poverty and engendering inclusive development.
In his remarks, at the closed door parley, NIPSS Director General, told the president that the participants analyzed and drew conclusions from which they have provided recommendations along implementation strategies to guide the policy direction for government.
This, Juma explained are pitched at strengthening institutional mechanism for poverty reduction and inclusive development of the country.
