Ambode charges 18 merit award winners to inspire other staff

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, has charged 18 public servants that emerged winners of the 2015 productivity merit award to inspire other staff in the state.
The governor gave the charge yesterday at a reception put together by the office of the Head of Service to celebrate the award recipients at Adeyemi Bero auditorium Alausa.
The 18 awardees who were rewarded for their outstanding performance and contributions towards the attainment of the state developmental goals include, Mrs. Onalaja Oluwakemi, Obadina Akinbode, Mr.Ekeade Ishola, Mrs Akinola Motunrayo, Mr. Olufowobi Wasiu, Mrs.
Akinjide Oyinlola, Mrs Akinbami Adebola, Mrs Odunuga Olufunmilayo, Mrs Oshunkoya Tawa.
Others include mr.Opadijo Akanni, Mr.Fadahunsi Olusina, Mrs Beckley Temilola,Mrs Akerele Abiola, Mr Olaniyan Olusola, Mrs Tijani Serah, Mr Oshinlana Temitope and Mr Bello Adeleye.
Governor Ambode who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tunji Bello, said the award was meant to recognise and highlight the contributions of workers towards the development in the state.
He said the government will continue to recognise and celebrate staff for their efficient and effective interpretation and implementation of government policies and programmes.
“I am indeed very proud of Lagos State Public servants for proving time and again that they stand taller than their peers even as it is widely acknowledged as one of the top five public service system in Africa.”
He said the government is able to record the various achievements so far because of the cooperation and synergy of the government of the day and the public service system.
“ I want you to note that the conferment of this award is a call to action for you to raise the bar of performance and continue to be role models for your colleagues and subordinates in carrying out your functions as public servants.
Earlier,  the state Head of ServiceOS) Mrs Olabowale Ademola, said theme of this year’s celebration ‘productivity for sustainable entrepreneurship and employment is not only apt but was geared towards driving home the importance the state government places on institutionalizing productivity in the public service.
“let me stress that the Laos State merit award is a further testimony of the resolve and commitment of the Lagos State government resolve of institutionalizing the culture of quality service delivery amongst workers in the state public service .”
Ademola added that the fact that the government is labour friendly is evident in the respect and recognition accorded the trade unions as partners and collaborators in the attainment of the developmental goals of government.
