Ogun 2019: Things fall apart… Alaba Lawson VS Amosun, the Yayi connection

By Emmanuel Ojo

The race to the Oke Mosan government house in 2019 has taken an interesting dimension in Ogun State.
Facts from the state has revealed that core loyalists of the incumbent governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun are already pitching their political tent with the Yewa born Lagos politician Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola thereby bringing serious frictions between the incumbent governor and his core supporters.

The latest is the ongoing face off between the Governor and one of his core supporters Iyalode Alaba Lawson. It was revealed that the Governor was not happy with Iyalode when she received Yayi.

The collapsed market building at Itoku which was being handled by Alaba Lawson’s company further strained the relationship between the Governor and Lawson.

Facts emerged that Mrs Lawson tried in every way to appease the Governor but to no avail. Such was the birthday party she organised for the governor’s wife at the cultural center almost two months after the original date of the birthday.

Facts further revealed that what actually angered the Governor to the point of no return was the obvious fact that major market women across the state has made up their mind to support Yayi in 2019 right under Alaba Lawson’s supervision.

That was very evident during the last campaign of the recently concluded local government election which the Governor and his party faithfuls were booed and abused at the same popular itoku market.

The governor then unleashed the state ministry of education and the internal revenue service to swoop on the schools of Alaba Lawson threatening to seal the schools and arrest whoever stand in the way of the state officials.
