Oyo State Government has rolled out a three day food festival to celebrate ‘Amala’ fiesta to showcase the uniqueness of ‘Amala’ as a peculiar delicacy of the people of the state.
Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Toye Arulogun disclosed this on Tuesday during the public presentation of the Amala fiesta logo and brand ambassador in Secretariat, Ibadan
According to him, the three day Amala fiesta is scheduled to take place between December 15 and 17, 2016 at Trans Amusement Park, Ibadan from 9:00am.
He said in furtherance of this objective, the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism will b collaborating with Tourist Car, Hospitality Association of Nigeria (TCHAN), Ministry of Local Government, Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter and Canteen Owners Association of Nigeria.
Arulogun hinted that major highlights of the Amala fiesta will include; food competition, cultural displays, musical concerts, food, edibles and agricultural exhibitions, comedy and raffle draw.
“All the 33 local governments of Oyo State will have adequate representation at the food festival with their own popular Amala vendors. The fiesta will be used to promote the nutritious value of Amala food, attract tourism activities to the state, create employment opportunities for the teeming population of th state and also improve internally generates revenue.
“There is hardly any ceremony in Nigeria as of today that Amala with its accomplices will not be served before guests and relatives that attend such occasion, it’s general acceptance as one of the foremost culinary in the country”
“Amala represents the homogeneous nature of our people, Amala represents the culture and health of our people”
