Militant groups name delegates to FG, N’Delta leaders’ dialogue

By Samuel Tombra, Yenagoa

Ahead of the forthcoming dialogue between the Federal Government and
the Chief Edwin Clark-led Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PNDF), militant
groups have named their representatives to the meeting.

One of such is the Reformed Egbesu Boys of the Niger Delta (REBND) who
in a statement by its leader, Tony Alagbakereowei, nominated the duo
of King Dodo II of Bilabiri Kingdom in Bayelsa state and King Charles
Ayemi Botu of Seimbiri Kingdom in Delta state.

On the other hand, the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) and the
Niger Delta Peoples Professional Volunteer Force (NDPPVF) have in a
joint statement signed by Cynthia Whyte and Dr Parkinson George-Amabo,
nominated a lawyer, Timipa Jenkins Okponipere, to be their

REBND said it decided not to tow the line of bloodshed because it
received orders from its ‘Most Senior Command’ not to kill, adding
that Nigeria’s military arm is not enough to stop its fight and
decision to group the nation’s oil and gas sector.

On their part, the RNDA and the NDPPVF said the Chief Clark-led PNDF
had been carrying on without credible contacts with any of the
militant groups that have set the tone for the dialogue, describing
the development as a dangerous one.

“However, both the RNDA and NDPPVF have since ceased fire and pledged
their 100 per cent loyalty and support to the Chief Edwin Clark-led
PANDEF; in the revived hope and belief that peace and development
shall soon return to the Niger Delta region.

“Nevertheless, we regret to note that none of the members of PANDEF
who are billed to meet with President Buhari has any direct link or
contact with the militant groups in the region.

“It is an extremely dangerous gambit to talk of peace and development
of the Niger Delta region without carrying the militant groups along.

“Consequently, after careful study and analysis of the antecedents and
track record of various Niger Delta professionals, we have jointly
representative to join the PANDEF delegation in the forthcoming visit
to President Muhammadu Buhari on October 31, 2016“, the statement
