the leadership of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has felicitated with the new Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II on his ascension to the throne as the 40th monarch of the ancient city.

Reacting to Thursday’s coronation of the traditional ruler in a statement issued on Thursday, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye stated that the vast experience that the new Oba had gathered over the years will stand him in good stead to steer the affairs of the Bini people creditably well.

“The Coronation which took place today, Thursday October 20, 2016 according to the chronology of ascension to the Throne makes him the 40th Oba of Benin Kingdom, the Traditional Ruler of the Edo people succeeding his father, His Royal Highness, Oba Erediauwa who passed on in April, 2016.

“With his vast experience in public administration and international relations, we believe he will bring this to bear in further development of the Ancient Benin Kingdom.

“We also congratulate His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II on his 63rd Birthday which coincides with the Coronation. We wish him long life on the Throne and all the best in life as he pilots the affairs of his Kingdom, Benin.”
